It’s the most cringeworthy moment in the whole Miss Universe history.
And so the new Miss Universe 2015 has been crowned – but not before Steve Harvey, the host of the pageant night, makes a huge mistake: announcing the wrong winner followed by another announcement that he named the wrong winner and runner-up after the crowning has already taken place.
And it all happened LIVE on national TV.

Steve Harvey first announced that the crown for Miss Universe 2015 goes to Miss Columbia and all was well. Both ladies were good sport as they exchanged congratulatory wishes and Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez wiped away her tears of joy as the $30,000 blue diamond and topaz crown was placed upon her head and she received a bouquet and her sash. But about two minutes later, Steve Harvey awkwardly returns to the center of the stage and announced that he had made a mistake. The actual Miss Universe 2015 is Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. In the midst of all the confusion and the sudden news, everyone watched with horror (and while cringing) as the crown was removed from one contestant’s head and placed on another. https://youtu.be/Z9aRmmWX5XI Steve Harvey has since tweeted an apology, adding that it was an honest mistake.
I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible. — Steve Harvey (@IAmSteveHarvey) December 21, 2015
Secondly, I’d like to apologize to the viewers at that I disappointed as well. Again it was an honest mistake.
