Malaysian artist Lim Zhi Wei (Limzy) shares with us how she plans to kick-start 2017 with a bang!
It sounds funny but equally realistic to say I feel that time gets shorter each and every year. My team and I used to feature annual calendars in November. Nowadays, we’ve started to get emails asking about these items as early as in October and needless to say, we have to start work to produce not only calendars but greeting cards, art prints and planners as well from June.
And when I think there’s ample time to daydream a bit before the crazy months of the year approach, my planner gets easily filled up with work, projects and holiday trips until February the year after! What my grandparents say is true: Santa Claus is coming to town. And next, watch out for the Lunar New Year!
While we all try to remain sane during this hectic period, it’s always a good yearly routine to step back, sit down and settle your mind to round up a year of goodness and start a fresh new page again – for the best year is yet to come!
WRITE IT DOWN
Year end is the time to relook at our performance checklist and list down new resolutions. We self-applaud ourselves for what we’ve done and achieved, and remind ourselves that it’s okay to work harder at certain aspects of our lives that require improvement. And yes, literally writing down the words and displaying them somewhere you can easily see works well as a constant visual and mental reminder. Be it in a planner, on an office desk frame or
a blackboard, go with whatever works best for you.
SEASON OF GIVING
Everyone feels special during this time of the year… whether they’re celebrating the festive season alone, in a group, on a holiday or even just lounging around at home.
If you’re considering contributing more to those outside your social circle, find a local non-profit association to help out at
for a day or two, sign up for a blood donation drive or even better, join a charity marathon. Society will have much to
thank you for when you spread your kindness around to double the happiness.
ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
We’ll never be us without the help of others. Whether it’s a short encounter or a life-time lesson learnt, we all learn and grow up as individuals but concurrently with the assistance and support of others. It should never be too hard to say thanks (and appreciate the kindness and selflessness) to those who have given to us along the journey called life.
I am a firm embracer of all things small but handmade. Write a greeting card, send a surprise bouquet, join a workshop and make a little gift or throw a little party for your team or employees. This will never fail to warm the receiver’s heart.
Last but not least, have yourself a very Merry Christmas and soon, Happy 2017!
