Here’s why it’s a big deal.
If you haven’t been keeping up with American football and politics, Colin Kaepernick is a National Football League quarterback who has become better known in recent years for kneeling rather than standing during the customary national anthem that precedes every game. His refusal to stand is his quiet protest against police brutality and racial injustice in the United States.
Unsurprisingly, his protest and outright support for minorities and the Black Lives Matter movement hasn’t sat well with a number of Americans– notably the President, Donald Trump.
If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend!

Which is why it is so amazing that Nike has made Kaepernick the star of their latest Just Do It commercial. While the commercial never overtly references Kaepernick’s political stance, getting him to narrate it and the tagline – “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” – while the American flag waves in the background says it all. (P.S. Donald Trump already hates it.)
