The live action The Lion King remake has found its Nala and it’s none other than everyone’s queen, Beyoncé!
Beyoncé revealed the full cast herself in a Facebook post earlier today.
The rest of the cast looks stellar as well, including Alfre Woodard as Simba’s mom Sarabi, British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Keegan-Michael Key of Key & Peele as one of the hyena trio, and more. Previously announcements that got us hyped were Donald Glover as Simba, comedian John Oliver as Zazu, and of course, the magnificent James Earl Jones who will reprise his role as Mufasa.
The film will be directed by Jon Favreau, who directed the live action remake of The Jungle Book in 2016, so you can expect the films to look similar in terms of effects and animation. And according to sources, you can even expect some musical numbers a la 2015’s Cinderella and this year’s Beauty And The Beast live action.
The Lion King will hit theatres on July 19, 2019. We can’t wait!
