The Best Moments From The Billboard Music Awards 2017

Great music, the hottest artists, out-of-this world fashion. The Billboard Music Awards never disappoints and this year is no exception! Here are all our favourite moments from the Billboard Music Awards 2017!

BTS And The Chainsmokers Hanging Out

The Chainsmokers have dominated the radio airwaves this year but they appeared just as thrilled as anyone to meet Korean boyband BTS, posting videos and adorable we-fies all over Twitter and Instagram. Collab please, guys?

Miley Cyrus’s Emotional Performance

Miley wasn’t the only one in tears during her performance at the Billboard Music Awards! The 21-year-old singer broke down while performing her new single “Malibu”, a raw, acoustic track inspired by her falling back in love with Liam Hemsworth. Are there onions in the room because I’m tearing up something awful too.

Vanessa Hudgens’ Impersonations Of Nicki Minaj And Celine Dion

Challenged by co-host Ludacris to rap one of Nicki Minaj’s many hits, Vanessa settled for trying a few lines from Monster. Vanessa may not be a rapper, but she sure gave it her best shot! (We think it was decent anyway– though Drake’s face may suggest otherwise.)

And if you thought that was good, you have to watch her seriously impressive take on Celine Dion’s Power of Love. But that wasn’t as good as…

Celine Dion Herself

One word: TITANIC. Celine Dion took to the stage to belt out a hair-raising, heart-rending performance of her hit song, My Heart Will Go On. The familiar strains, the shimmering notes, Celine Dion’s perfect powerhouse voice, and the clips of the movie in the backdrop made all those Titanic feels come rushing back as though it was 1997 again! We thought we were over it, but no, we’re not even close. Tissues, please.

Cher’s Amazing Outfit

Can you believe this was Cher’s first live performance in 15 years? Amazing for sure, but not as amazing as the fact that she did so in the same outfit she wore in her I Wish I Could Turn Back Time music video. And she looked fabulous in the sequin-draped outfit, complete with platinum blonde wig and a glitzy heart-shaped hot pink nipple pasty.  I wouldn’t have dared to wear this when I was 20, so major props to Cher for rocking it at 71! If we could all be as cool as her.

BTS Winning The Top Social Artist Award

Also known as the Bangtan Boys, BTS is the first Korean group ever to be nominated for a Billboard Music Award. But they weren’t just nominated– they won! The band took home the Top Social Artist Award, an award determined by votes from fans, beating out Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, and Shawn Mendes.

“It’s an awesome thing, and we are excited about it all,” band member Rap Monster told Refinery29. “ First being invited to the BBMAs where all these huge artists gather in the same place. If we win the Top Social Artist Award, it is because of the dedication from our A.R.M.Y.s [their fans] around the world and our honor and gratitude goes directly to them. We feel that music is the international language and we feel the love from all over the world through that.”

In other categories, Drake made a pretty clean sweep, taking home the awards for Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist and more.

Beyonce claimed the Top Female and R&B Artist and Album, among others, and The Chainsmokers were crowned the Top Dance/Electronic Artist while their song with Halsey, Closer, won both Top  Collaboration and Electronic/Dance Song.

The Top Rock Album award went to Metallica for their album Hardwired…To Self Destruct.  As for Top Tour? That went to… you guessed it– Coldplay.
