FEMALE: How did you land in your current career?
Fiona: “Totally by chance! Photography has always been just a hobby.”
FEMALE: Did you ever imagine yourself in this line?
Fiona: “Not at all. In fact, I had a good career doing IT in the oil and gas industry and never expected to take photography seriously, more so as a full-time job.”
FEMALE: Any fears before you took the leap of faith?
Fiona: “The scariest part about leaving my job and jumping straight into photography was the unknown and the uncertainty that it was (going to be) a sustainable business.”
FEMALE: How much support did you get?
Fiona: “Everyone was very supportive. My parents however were both apprehensive initially when I told them I was quitting my nine-to-five job, but when they realised how well my start-up was developing within one year, they became 100 per cent supportive.”
FEMALE: Was there ever a time when you doubted your decision?
Fiona: “Not for a moment. I have no regrets. I guess when you’re doing something you’re passionate about and it brings you so much joy and satisfaction, you just know you’re on the right path.”
FEMALE: What kept you going during difficult times?
Fiona: “The client referrals were the constant reassurance that FIFOTO is doing well – and I think that’s a testament that they like and appreciate our work.”
FEMALE: Are you content with what you’ve achieved so far?
Fiona: “It’s been an amazing journey and I couldn’t be more grateful to all the clients (who also have become friends) and the fantastic FIFOTO team who’s been there since day one. We’re celebrating our 10th anniversary this year and I must say it’s been a fulfilling experience!”
