The New Volvo XC40 Is Not A Regular SUV. It’s A Cool SUV.

We had the opportunity to take this Scandinavian beauty out for a spin and let’s just say, it was way too easy to fall in love.

Thank God for the Swedes. They gave us Ikea, H&M, Spotify, ABBA and most importantly Alexander Skarsgård, but if there’s one more thing about Sweden I’ve grown to love – it’s Volvo.

Last month, I had the chance to review the locally-assembled XC40 by taking it for a drive up to Tanjong Jara. I’ve always been a big fan of SUVs, but it still surprised me how quickly I was able to fall in love with this particular one. It was comfortable, roomy and extremely fun to drive. Best part? It looks sexy, sporty and sophisticated all at the same time – making it the perfect ride for any young woman living in the city (aka me and probably you) who dreams of owning her own stylish ride one day.

1. It stuns visually

Uniquely Scandinavian and unmistakably urban, the Volvo XC40 is no doubt built for the city life.

While it comes in four attractive colours (Crystal White Pearl, Bursting Blue Metallic, Osmium Grey Metallic and Fusion Red Metallic) for you to choose from, all colour options are fitted with a Black Stone roof that makes the car stand out even more from a distance. Like its ‘Thor’s hammer’ inspired headlamps isn’t doing that already.

Personally the ultra high interior built quality was what sold it for me. I absolutely loved the aluminium dash inlays, R-Design sports seats, steering wheel, gear lever and pedals. The uncluttered layout also allowed me to focus on the beautiful details of the car, while the high seating position means that I’ll always feel in control when I’m behind the wheel (which is mainly why most women fancy SUVs in the first place, so props to Volvo for acknowledging that).
