The Do’s And Don’ts For Those With Sensitive Skin

The Don’ts

1. Treat your skin like acne-prone skin

Sensitive skin may break out with rashes and pimples, which you may think of treating with acne medications. But acne is caused by bacteria and the overproduction of sebum. The usual acne treatments of salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide will only worsen your skin condition as you aren’t treating it from the root.

2. Go Overboard With Cleansing

Cleansing may be one of the most important skincare steps but that’s not an excuse to go overboard with multiple cleansers and face scrubs. Use mild cleanser daily and gentle scrub up to twice a week.

3. Purchase Products By Fragrance

It may be tempting to purchase products by how they smell but the fragrance is a common skin irritant for sensitive or troubled skin. Why? Because fragrances impart their scent via volatile compounds and cause irritation that may or may not be visible on skin’s surface. Opt for products with minimal fragrance, or better yet, those that are fragrance-free!
