Here’s what you must and mustn’t do when it comes to caring for delicate skin.
1. Wear Sunscreen
Sensitive skin or not, your skin is similarly affected by UV rays that cause premature signs of ageing such as dark spots, wrinkles, and unevenness. Get a minimum SPF30 sunscreen and wear it daily even if the only time you’re exposed to the sun is during your work commute. For protection against irritation, choose a sunscreen that contains a physical blocker like zinc oxide and avoid skin-irritants like oxybenzone and avobenzone.
2. Do An Allergy Test
Not sure if your skin can take a new product? Do a patch test on the underside of your arm (it’s one of the thinnest skin areas on the body) and wait for at least 24 hours to determine if there are any negative reactions.
3. Consult A Dermatologist
If you have redness, itchiness or irritated skin, it may be due to an external condition like rosacea or eczema. Instead of treating it yourself, it’s best to get a professional’s opinion, dermatologist to help you make better skincare choices to suit your sensitive skin.
