Are you brave enough to front a campaign bare-faced? It isn’t an easy task but Chloë Grace Moretz alongside five other celebrities have taken up the challenge in SK-II’s Bare Skin Project!
While most of us shy away from showing off our makeup-free face, six global celebrities confidently went ahead showing off the beauty of bare skin. With the help of the Facial Treatment Essence, Chloë Grace Moretz, Chun Xia, Kasumi Arimura, Mayu Matsuoka, Ni Ni and Tang Wei revealed their bare faces for the first time in SK-II’s new campaign, #BareSkinProject.
Infused with the natural bio-ingredient Pitera™, the Facial Treatment Essence hydrates, repairs and provides crystal clear skin – letting these brave women face the camera bare-skinned effortlessly! Containing over 50 micro-nutrients, Pitera™ helps to retain moisture from within, prevent damage on the surface of the skin from UV rays and pollution, as well as nourish skin so that wrinkles and spots are less visible.
The bold campaign enlisted world renowned photographers Christopher Anderson, Jim Goldberg and Alessandra Sanguinetti from Magnum Photos to capture the authenticity and grace of bare skin under strong, unfiltered eye. And for a truly genuine outcome, none of the photos went through any skin retouching to enhance complexion.
It was so refreshing to hear about a campaign that aims to embrace women’s natural beauty and spark a movement of authenticity and confidence. I knew that this was a perfect fit for me and what I represent.

From where I come from, healthy bare skin is a big trend but most of the time, these bare skin photos are still enhanced by “a natural make up look”. With the #BareSkinProject, I want to show my sincerity to my audience and fans and present my most natural self in bare skin.
– Chun Xia
The campaign doesn’t end here, however. SK-II will be launching short, intimate films that document four of the celebrities’ unique journeys with the Facial Treatment Essence and their time with Magnum Photos. No date has been mentioned so far, but for now, let’s take a look closer at those portraits everyone’s dying to see!
