If you’re particular about what you put on your skin, then you probably scrutinise the ingredient lists of all your products. And you should! Just like the rest of your body, figuring out your skin needs and feeding it with the right nutrients is the key to a healthy complexion.
For Ageing Skin: Goji Berries
Smile lines, crow’s feet and fine lines are some of the things we may dread when we think about ageing. It’s especially frustrating when our skincare routines don’t seem to be slowing down the inevitable march of time.
Use this: One of the most effective ingredients to combat skin ageing would be goji berry extract. Loaded with antioxidants and amino acid, it gives the skin much needed nourishment. Additionally, these little red berries pack a punch of essential vitamins that combat free radicals and increase collagen production to keep skin supple and youthful.
For Dull Skin: Mandarin Oranges
Are you noticing uneven skin tone and textures? Don’t freak out cos there are plenty of people who are in the same boat. While darker skin tones produce more melanin, anyone with fairer skin is still susceptible to the formation of dark spots. So what’s the solution?
Use This: Mandarin orange extract is your best friend; loaded with melanin-busting vitamin C and containing a mild bleaching property, it reinforces skin’s deepest layers and does wonders to combat the formation of pigmentation.
For Dry Skin: Rose Water
If you’re noticing a decrease in your skin’s moisture level and it’s feeling rough with flakiness, then you’re probably experiencing dry and dehydrated skin. But don’t worry. A healthy complexion can become a reality by loading up on the right ingredients.
Use this: Rosewater has popped up in various skincare products recently, and for good reason! It’s been known to deliver intense hydration into the skin while balancing skin tone. If your skin tends to turn red and sensitive, rosewater is gentle enough not to cause irritation and redness.
For Sun-Damaged Skin: White Ginseng
Sun damage is a word no one ever wants to hear when describing the skin. If you’ve been skipping on sunscreen, our advice is don’t! Sunscreen is important to protect your skin from the harsh UVA/UVB rays and environmental aggressors that can cause damage to your cells. How do we prevent this?
Tip: Try out products with white ginseng. Rich in saponins, it promotes skin’s natural circulation and hydration. This herb also has skin-brightening properties, giving the skin a brighter and more youthful appearance in the long run.
For Mature Skin: Sea Algae
Wrinkles may be inevitable and as we age, collagen and elastin in the skin breaks down and this causes the skin to sag and fine line to show. But just because it’s part of life, doesn’t mean that we can’t delay the signs of time. But how?
Tip: An antioxidant has regenerative abilities to combat signs of aging. Sea algae extract is rich in antioxidants, and has the ability to increase cell regeneration and elastin synthesis to combat those signs effectively. So whether it’s a serum or a mask, just slather on antioxidant-rich products and you’ll start to see your skin improve.
