Micellar water got its start in France, where it was created as a cleansing option for people with sensitive skin. But what exactly is it?
Basically, micellar water is made up of tiny cleansing oil particles, or micelles, suspended in water to allow it to dissolve and wipe away makeup or sebum. It’s designed to be wiped off without rinsing, which makes it a convenient water-free cleanser that can be used on the go or anywhere. And because of its skin-conditioning and softening properties, it can also work as a hydrating toner!
But that’s not all. Micellar water is one of the most useful things you can have on hand! Besides cleaning your face, here are some of our favourite ways to put a bottle to use:
1. Clean up a wing
The secret to Adele’s perfectly crisp, sharp wings? Her makeup artist, Michael Ashton, uses a cotton bud tip soaked in micellar water. You can also use this method to clean up eyeshadow falllout, define your brows or lip lines without leaving behind any greasy residue.
