Jackie Aina, a beauty blogger who has been instrumental and outspoken in diversifying beauty standards, has just published a beauty tutorial with a twist: she creates a full face with nothing but halal-friendly products!
What makes a makeup product halal can vary based on the person using it: whether it’s actually certified halal, alcohol-free, not tested on animals, vegan, or any combination of the above. While not all the products she uses are officially halal-certified or available in Malaysia, it’s great to see what halal makeup options are available to Muslims. Besides that, Jackie’s video also highlights that Muslim consumers exist and deserve options as well.
With that said, here are a few of the products that caught my eye!
This 100% vegan animal testing-free setting powder from Beauty Bakerie sets makeup, smooths and blurs the complexion for a perfected, matte finish. And look at that packaging!
Huda Kattan’s Huda Beauty is arguably one of the most recognisable Muslim beauty brands, and her impressively pigmented and artistic eyeshadow shades never disappoint– like this Arabian desert-inspired palette.
Muslim-Indian beauty blogger Farah Dhukai is best known for her viral Unicorn Essence (which gets a mention in Jackie’s video too), but this jelly-like highlighter has really gotten my attention! The unique texture and seamless wet-sheen finish look like something that needs to be on my vanity now.
Watch these products and more in action in Jackie’s video below, where she also shares resources for finding halal beauty products online!
