How To Make Priyanka Chopra’s Favourite DIY Face Mask

Priyanka Chopra has always been one of our beauty icons. As it turns out, she owes a lot of what she knows about beauty to her mom! In a video for Harper’s Bazaar, Priyanka and mom Madhu talk about beauty and skincare.

“Since she was a little girl,  she always took care of her skin, and made me realize when I was a little girl the importance of it,” Priyanka says. “Of course when you’re young, you don’t listen as much but as I grew older I realized all these little tricks and amazing secrets that she had were integral to my skin.”

From teaching her daughter the importance of taking off her makeup at night (with coconut oil!), to reassuring her of her beauty when Priyanka herself was unsure, Madhu has certainly played a crucial role in shaping the beauty icon we know and love today. And perhaps like a lot of us, Priyanka’s mom is still her go-to person when she needs some beauty wisdom.

In the video, they even demonstrate one of their favourite traditional DIY beauty recipes: an Ubtan face mask, an all-natural remedy you can put together in your kitchen.

Madhu & Priyanka Chopra’s Ubtan Face Mask

  • 2 tablespoons of whole wheat flour
  • A pinch of turmeric
  • A few drops of lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Full-fat yoghurt
  • Rose water to dilute

Mix all ingredients into a paste, adding more rose water until it reaches the right consistency. Apply directly to face and let dry for 15-20 minutes. Lightly rub to exfoliate away dry skin and fine hairs before washing off.

Madhu also shares another recipe for a DIY lip scrub of rose water and sugar, with rose petals for for a hint of colour. “The sugar gives it that plump look,” she says, “because sugar is hygroscopic, so it pulls the fluid out and your lips go pop.”

“She’s a doctor,” Priyanka explains. Mom really does know best!
