We’ve tried the SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence and here’s what we have to say about it.
Keeping my skin safe from the sun is a priority to me now more than ever, thanks to this blazing heat we’re facing every day. Its harmful UV rays have caused my skin to age much faster, giving me a duller complexion with more dark spots forming around my cheeks. To combat that, I decided to try and review SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence as it’s said to fight dullness and reduce sun spots with its brightening ingredients together with the legendary Pitera™. And since Pitera™ did wonders for my skin with the Facial Treatment Essence, I was hopeful that the brightening serum would set it right. Curious to see how to use the product and if it really worked? Read on in this review!
What’s In GenOptics Aura Essence?
The ingredients in the GenOptics Aura Essence are a unique complex that benefits the skin to bring back the glow that was lost. Amongst them, it contains Inositol which increases the skin’s clarity, and Prunus extract which derives from prune fruits to provide antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. When combined with Pitera™ and the brightening D-Melano P3C™ (another key ingredient in the formula), sun spots and dull, cloudy skin are very much reduced.
How To Use The SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence
First off, the brightening serum comes in a beautiful opalescent glass bottle with an auto-fill dropper that gives you the exact amount of product you need. Its texture is moderately thick and milky with a soft, calming fragrance. Once applied, it’s absorbed fairly quickly and leaves the skin feeling hydrated and smooth.
The instructions given are simple; after using your essence, simply dispense one full drop on your palm and apply it all over your face. However, as I prefer a lighter feeling (although I have dry and sensitive skin), I’ve found that half a drop provides just enough coverage for me.
Incorporating the GenOptics Aura Essence into my daily skincare routine was very simple. After using my essence, I applied the serum and waited about 20 seconds for it to fully absorb before following up with my usual steps. If you’re using the Facial Treatment Essence, then apply the serum after. To tackle those pesky dark spots, I applied a little more on the areas that needed it and patted it on till it was fully absorbed.
Honestly speaking, I was a little wary of brightening products as they brought back memories of breakouts after going through a couple of brightening facials in the past, but I was quite pleased that the GenOptics Aura Essence did not cause me to break out and did not irritate my sensitive skin at all — so that’s a plus for me!
Did It Work? Before and After using the GenOptics Aura Essence
To document the changes in this review, I’ve taken before and after photos that showed my skin from when I started till a few weeks later. If you look closer, you’ll see that my skin tone isn’t even, I have more fine lines under my right eye (which probably came from always sitting at the driver’s seat) and sunspots below my cheekbones as well.
I used the GenOptics Aura Essence consistently without fail every morning and night and to my (pleasant) surprise, I noticed that my skin became much more radiant than before. Even on the first night, I noticed that my skin was glowing, which was quite impressive. The next morning, my face actually looked refreshed which was totally unexpected as it usually looks pale and dull.
Over time, my complexion smoothened out and looked brighter as if there really was an aura surrounding my skin. I couldn’t see much difference under my eyes and noticed the dark spots still remained but they weren’t as visible as when I first started. Overall, I’m quite happy with the results as my glow has returned with my skin looking brighter and clearer in under a month. What’s even better is that it’s become easier for me to feel confident in my own skin, so much so, I’ve can even go bare-faced and makeup-free.
Where To Buy
If you’re experiencing lacklustre skin and want that glow you were born with to return, I’d definitely recommend you to give the serum a go. Priced at RM589 for 30ML, RM838 for 50ML and RM1,179 for 75ML, you can purchase the GenOptics Aura Essence at any of the SK-II counters in Malaysia.
