Well, there’s a cafe for you too! Serving up healthy beauty-enhancing beverages and cakes, The Ageless Cafe is located in American skincare brand Ceramiracle’s first flagship store in TTDI, Kuala Lumpur.
The entire concept was born out of Ceramiracle founder’s, Eugene He‘s, dream to create a relaxing, intimate place where people can enjoy a little taste of Hollywood-style life. He imagines the space to be a welcoming and friendly place where you can treat themselves to a facial or a spot of tea, or both.
“People tend to think of beauty and skincare as being its own standalone thing. But for me, beauty has always been integrated in every aspect of my life,” says Eugene, a trained clinical naturopath who has been making his own skincare products since he was 16 and sports tattoos of botanical illustrations and the chemical structure of a serotonin molecule along his left arm.
And The Ageless Café is certainly beautiful. In the sun-filled, airy space, you’ll find over 30 all-organic tea blends featuring herbs and botanicals sourced from all over the world. Each tea is blended according to Eugene’s own recipes and their beauty benefits.
The First Light Signature Tea, for instance, uses many of the same ingredients found in Ceramiracle’s best-selling First Light Serum and is rich in collagen-boosting botanicals and antioxidants. It smells like chrysanthemum tea, with a sweet floral licorice-like finish. Its key ingredient, a little-known herb called Jiaogulan, is believed to help with wound healing, collagen production, and UV damage when eaten.
There’s also Eugene’s favourite Truly Asia tea, a sweet fruity blend exclusive to the KL flagship store that features papaya, pineapple, lemongrass, and butterfly pea flower, which dyes it an intriguing shade of deep blue. “In Thailand, they consume a lot of this flower for acne,” Eugene says.
The cafe also serves up a selection of “beauty cakes,” desserts infused with skincare-boosting ingredients like a Dark Chocolate Charcoal Cake that Eugene says is great for oily skin, and a Lychee, Rosewater, and Coconut Water cake that’s supposed to be balancing and harmonising. Eugene is a huge believer that you are what you eat, and that skincare is definitely more than just skin deep.
“Compounds in food like antioxidants can really affect the way your body works, and how you look,” he says. “For example, compounds like carotenoids can control melanin synthesis and therefore help with pigmentation problems; antioxidants undo damage from free radicals and sometimes stimulate collagen synthesis.” In order to see benefits though, Eugene says you’d have to be consuming these foods on the regular.
Besides enjoying tea, you’ll also be able to pop on back for a facial or pick up one of Ceramiracle’s skincare products. The outlet offers only one facial: The Celebrity Medifacial. This 85-minute, Los Angeles-inspired facial uses a range of high-tech treatments and their own Ceramiracle products to promise radiant, refined, lifted skin. “There’s only one facial here and I call it the celebrity or red carpet facial because I designed it so that you leave the facial looking better than you did when you went in,” explains Eugene. “Unlike some facials, here are no rough exfoliations or extractions here that’ll leave you with tender, red skin. You’ll look good enough to walk the red carpet.”
