In fact, you might know Nam as the one who coined the “dewy dumpling” glow, a look that has since gone on to become a global phenomenon and earned Nam a huge celebrity client base including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kylie Jenner and Chrissy Teigen. Today, her achievements span across fashion, editorial, celebrity as well as beauty strategy, product development and creative consulting.

If you follow the beauty industry as well as Nam’s social media closely, you’ll know that she’s currently the celebrity global artist for Shiseido Cosmetics, contributing creative director for ELLE Vietnam and creative consultant for Birchbox. Most recently, she took the role of Global Artistry Ambassador for Marc Jacobs Beauty where she creates exclusive content and shares tips on how to achieve her signature glow with skincare and makeup.

In conjunction with the launch of the Youthquake Hydra-Full Retexturizing Gel Crème that spearheads Marc Jacobs Beauty’s first ever skincare range, Marc Jacobs Skincare, we had the opportunity to speak with Nam exclusively and she shared more details about the innovative gel crème and gave us some sound advice on skincare and makeup.

Before we dive into the interview, what exactly is the Youthquake Hydra-Full Retexturizing Gel Crème?

The multitasking moisturizer is Marc Jacobs Beauty’s very first skincare product that took three years to formulate and promises to shake up your old skincare routine for results you can see instantly and over time. Boasting a yellow gel-cream texture and mild citrus scent, it’s formulated with 54 per cent enzymatic pineapple water, five per cent encapsulated sodium hyaluronate, and antioxidant-rich starfruit and dragon fruit extracts for an instant glow and lasting hydration for up to 24 hours.

It was first used backstage at Marc Jacob’s AW19 show and was also seen on Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez at the red carpets of this year’s MET Gala and Cannes Film Festival.

Now, on to the interview with Nam!

FEMALE: Youthquake is formulated with a significant amount of enzymatic pineapple water. How does it prep your skin for your makeup routine and how does pineapple benefit our skin’s health?

Nam Vo: Youthquake is a multitasking moisturiser that preps and primes the skin for flawless makeup application. Pineapple enzymes are known to help gently resurface your skin, ensuring smoother skin which is perfect to help achieve that red carpet glow.

F: Which skin types are suitable and not suitable for pineapple ingredients?

NV: All skin types can benefit from the natural exfoliating enzymes from pineapple. It provides gentle yet effective retexturising results. Of course, as with any products, you can do a patch test on a small area to check for any sensitivity.

F: Apart from pineapple, Youthquake also contains starfruit and dragon fruit. What are the benefits of these fruits in Youthquake?

NV: Both are antioxidants, which are known to help soothe and keep the skin calm.
