Now that it’s October, it’s time to highlight our absolute favourite makeup looks and artists. Every Monday, we’ll share a look, tip or artist that forever changed our makeup game. Say hello to FEMALE Beauty Faves. It’s Makeup Monday with a twist!
Party makeup doesn’t always have to be bling-y glam and over-the-top– sometimes simple is best, like this incredibly subtle yet beautiful party look by the amazing M.A.C Director of Makeup Artistry Mickey Contractor.
Hailed as a master of Indian makeup, Mickey’s intuitive understanding of what makeup works for Indian skin tones and features makes him one of my favourite makeup artists to watch. In this look, he uses chic pink shades to enhance for a young and simple monochromatic party makeup look that suits everyone.
The key to keeping your makeup looking chic and fresh is to stick to a single colour family– in this case, pink. Here, the eyeshadow, blush, and lips shine in similar pink tones and the result is a look that’s perfectly tied together and sophisticated.
Mickey starts with a dusty rose pink eyeshadow in a light wash across the lids before moving on to mascara and lashes.
This is my favourite tip from him: for the most natural-looking false lashes, he paints the spine of the lashes with a similar shade of eyeshadow. When applied, it blends seamlessly into the look!
“Everything about this makeup look is going to be shiny,” Mickey says, and who are we to disagree? Pat on a neutral shimmer (guaranteed to work with every shade of makeup and skin) across your brow bone and cheekbones for a subtle highlight, but keep your T-zone matte so your highlighter really pops!
Finally, pick a nice rose-y pink shade for your blush and lips, and you’re done!”It’s all very monochromatic, it’s modern and young,” says Mickey.
