Bad day at work? Worn out from the strains of living in this concrete jungle? There’s nothing like a visit to a spa to de-stress! But if you, like most of us, don’t have the time or means to go to a spa to get pampered, we’ve got just the tips to turn your bathroom into your very own spa– without spending a fortune.
Step 1: Set the mood
First of all, mood matters! The right ambiance is crucial for recreating that spa environment and to help you relax. To instantly change the mood, turn off your glaring bathroom lights and light a few scented candles or tea lights. Put on a relaxing playlist, and you’ll definitely feel like you’ve walked into your favourite spa!
Step 2: Scent it up
No bath tub? No worries! A shower can be just as relaxing and invigorating. The steam and gentle pressure from the shower head can feel even better than soaking in a hot tub! Plus the heat and moisture in the shower makes you more receptive to smells, so now’s the time to really enjoy a favourite scent. Choose a good, scented shower gel to turn your shower time into an experience or drop a few drops of your favourite essential or perfume oil onto the floor of your shower and soak in the cloud of scent!
Step 3: Continue the experience
Just because you’ve stepped out of the tub or shower doesn’t mean that the spa experience is over! Think back to some of your favourite spas and recall how you’re treated at the end of the experience. Wrap yourself in a fluffy bathrobe or towel, have a nice cup of tea (or cocktail!) waiting for you, keep the music playing and continue burning a scented candle in your bedroom as you unwind with a good book or movie. It’s a wonderful form of self-care, which is something everyone needs and deserves. I like to put on a sheet mask as well– Once it’s time to remove the mask, I feel completely rejuvenated and ready to face the next day.
