One does not stop in Tokyo without leaving with a bag of ‘kawaii’ knick-knacks. Check out what our Deputy Beauty Editor Sarah Hani got on her recent trip.
First of all, let me just say that Japan is not cheap. I personally feel that in terms of shopping (both fashion and beauty-wise), it’s nowhere near as satisfying as a spree in Seoul, South Korea, however, with Tokyo being the centre for all things cute and quirky I knew I couldn’t leave without getting anything. Here’s what caught my eye.
Hello Kitty Eyelash Curler, ¥980 (Approx. RM38.60)
I’ve always wanted one of these types of curlers cos they’re less bulky while the traditional ones have metal frames and are rigid. Love how flexible this is and bonus points cos it’s Hello Kitty and pink!
LuLulun Face Mask, ¥1500 (Approx. RM59)
FEMALE intern Jess swears by this so I had to try it. This is a monthly pack (they sell weekly packs too) with around 40 sheets that are all packaged together. The pink one is for Balance Moisture (other options are purple for Rich Moisture and silver for Whitening). While I do feel it’s gentle enough for daily use and moisturised my skin adequately, it’s overall just an average for me.
Venus Hair Brush, ¥1200 (Approx. RM47.20)
It looks like a Tangle Teezer, works as well as a Tangle Teezer, but alas, it’s not. It’s slightly bigger in size but I love the pretty watercolour floral design at the back.
Non Kuma Eye Mask, ¥500 (Approx. RM17)
If you meet me without makeup, you’ll probably notice my dark under-eye circles so yes, I need help wherever I can get it! This one packet has four sheets and it claims that you can use it repeatedly until the adhesive weakens. So far my dark circles have not faded…
Choosy Art Lip Pack, ¥300 (Approx. RM11.80)
I didn’t realise that this was a Korean product when I picked it up but I really like this one. It’s super-easy to use. Open the pack, apply to clean lips and leave it on for 15 mins. Hello, kissable lips!
