FEMALE Tries: COSRX Eco Friendly Silk Finger Ball For Clogged Pores!

I’m all about trying different beauty products these days. Although having said that, since trying out a lot of skincare and makeup products, I noticed that blackheads are visible up close and it bugs the hell out of me. I’ve tried pore strips and facial scrubs to get rid of them but none have shown the results I wanted. Although they gave me a smoother skin on my nose area, I can still see the blackheads and clogged pores. So I was determined to search for a product that could help me with my dilemma. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Korean beauty brand, COSRX and this particular product is my most adventurous one yet.

Enter the COSRX Blackhead Silk Finger Ball. It’s an eco-friendly, hypoallergenic finger ball that helps to exfoliate the dead skin cells and blackheads around your nose and mouth area. It is also made from 100 percent natural cocoons. In all honesty, the thought of it kind of grossed me out in the beginning cos it’s freakin’ silkworm’s cocoon (don’t google it)! But fears and grotesque thoughts aside on the creepy crawlies, it’s just like using a cotton ball, only it’s hardened.

So here’s my review of it from prepping to the aftermath of using those silkworm balls…I mean silk finger ball.

The product comes in an airtight ziplock bag with all 12 finger balls inside a sealed packet for RM18.90. It’s pretty okay for the fact that each ball has a lifespan of 2 to 3 uses.

Following the directions given, I needed to soak the ball in warm water for 2 to 3 minutes to soften it. Then stick one on my index finger and gently massage it over the desired areas. It’s pretty simple to use!

Although I must say that it doesn’t do well to get the grimes off in tighter corners around my nose cos the ball itself is a bit big.

After 30 seconds or so of exfoliating, you can see some discolouration on the white ball. Those are the combination of makeup residues, sebum and dead skin cells. It doesn’t give you the satisfaction like pore strips or face scrubs do but it feels gentler on the skin. Because of that, I didn’t get dry patches or redness from using it. RESULTS!

I then proceeded to cleanse my face with my regular face wash with cold water and I could immediately feel the smooth surface on my nose.

Upon closer inspection, I could visibly see my pores, sebum free! The Silk finger ball literally unclogged my pores particularly around the tip of my nose. As for both sides of my nose, I can still see some clogged pores, perhaps because it couldn’t get to those areas as easily and I also didn’t put in the extra effort. But overall it worked.

Just remember to follow through with your skincare routine to add back moisture and to tightened up the now clean and clogged free pores.

Also, don’t throw the ball away, run it under cold water to clean it and let it air dry completely until your next use. Which was what I did, but I find that it can last only for two uses cos it has lost its texture and it looks pretty worn.

I try to use it once a week, but because it’s gentle on the skin you can definitely increase the number of usages to twice a week. All in all, this is going to be one of my favourite weekly routines!
