1. Use lemon juice to brighten your skin

When life gives you lemons, don’t apply it on your skin! Although many DIY gurus swear by the citrus fruit to lighten dark marks and scars, the high acidity level of lemon juice can actually damage your skin badly. This is because lemons have a pH level of around 2 to 3 which can mess up the skin’s natural pH of about 4 to 5, resulting in irritation and sensitivity. Worst case scenario, it can lead to an increased risk of hyperpigmentation and chemical burns– the opposite of what you want happening.
