Three Perfume Trends You’ll Want To Wear This Year

Fresh green scents, alluring unisex fragrances, and unique niche perfumes.

How’s your year going? We’re sure your outfits are on point and your makeup game as strong as ever, but how about your choice of scent? If you’re on top of all the fashion and beauty trends, it’s time to think about fragrances! Olfactory memory, or our ability to associate memories and feelings with scent, is incredibly powerful. So if you want to leave a lasting impression, let your scent do the talking.

In France, a girl’s first perfume purchase is an almost sacrosanct coming-of-age ceremony – they are taken to a perfume house by their mothers, where they are then encouraged to sample different scents before choosing one that they feel represents their personality and style. The symbolism is beautiful and encourages young girls to think deeply about who they are. (My first self-chosen perfume was DKNY’s Be Delicious, when I was 15. I wore it for most of my formative years before branching out – though my preference still leans towards the same crisp, slightly sweet scents.)

Finding a signature scent is something everyone should get to do once in their life. Because there’s nothing quite like it!

Intrigued? Want to find your personal scent signature too? Take a look at 2017’s perfume trends for starters.

1. Think green

Like Pantone’s Colour of the Year, 2017’s perfumes are all about green. From green bottles to refreshing green aromatics like tea, mint, and other botanicals, you’ll want your perfume to capture the liveliness of the year! Green scents range from wet and juicy like a newly-pruned leaf, to crisp citrus and light herby blends.

Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, RM 180

This popular fragrance is uplifting and energizing, thanks to its zesty citrus and cool peppermint notes. Perfect for our tropical weather!

Diptyque Eau de Lierre, RM 399

Redolent with the green fresh notes of a garden, this delicate botanical scent is warmed with a heart of rosewood.

Kenzo Parfum D’ete, RM 288

This bright perfume shines with floral notes of jasmine, cyclamen, peach blossom. Leafy green notes, herb juice, and lotus adds a juicy green accord.

The Body Shop White Musk L'Eau, RM99

Crisp pear and clean florals are blended with the iconic White Musk scent for a fresh spring scent.
